Arrows, Watercolor and Love

What's inspiring me: Arrows are so simple, but they make a wonderful point (literally and figuratively :] ).

What I'm creating: Here are my ICADs for the past few days!  I have been using watercolors for the background of my index cards lately.  I want to take a class or something to figure out other ways to use watercolors.

I made time today to work on some art journal pages, which I have not done in a few days.  Whenever I am just sitting and making things, it is my break from the world.  A few seconds to breathe and put my creativity to the test. :)  The first page is from art journal #1.  I used the same theme of arrows on this page.  The watches were a part of the existing page, and I painted around them.

These next two pages are from art journal #2.  I mostly used paper scraps on these pages.  The only thing I wish I changed was the first page you can see the words from the other side of the page, but other than that, I love how these turned out!

What I'm reading/sites I love: I love reading books and discovering new sites and articles!  I found Womens Health magazine has a great website with tons of workouts and advice.  Here was a quote that I found very interesting.  "Dating success relies on you embracing your life, even if it's not exactly the life you had planned," says Michelle Callahan, Ph.D., a Women's Health contributor and author of Ms. Typed: Stop Sabotaging Your Relationships and Find Dating Success. "Radiating self-assurance makes people want to join you for the ride."

Trip Scrapbook

What I'm creating: I spent all weekend working on the scrapbook from our rv roadtrip!  I had prepped the pages before we left, so as the trip progressed, I write what we did each day.  This weekend I added the photos to finish the book!  I used brown paper bags for the pages.

So there is our trip in scrapbook form!  I really liked how it turned out.  I need to figure out a way to make the front and back cover more solid, maybe modge podge?  Any ideas?!

Much love.

Elephants

What's inspiring me/What I'm wearing: Elephants are my favorite animal and when I found this cute elephant necklace, I had to buy it!  I think elephants are cute and they are the inspiration for the page I created in an art journal today. :)

What I'm creating: I created this window awhile ago, but I finally have something to see through on the next page!  All of these pages are from art journal #1, which is almost full!  The last page I made today was created out of sticky notes, which I thought was a creative use for something that would have been recycled.

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!  I know I certainly am.

Much love.

Harder than it seems

What I'm creating: It is much more difficult to get back in the swing of things after being on vacation!  Its taken me all week to clean my room and still it is not very organized.  But here are my ICAD from this week.  I used mostly pieces of envelope and office supplies.  I also made a page in art journal #2.

What I'm listening to: The finale of So You Think You Can Dance is next week!  Not only do I love watching the amazing dancers, but I love discovering new songs from the show.  My favs from this week were:

-After Tonight (Justin Nozuka)
-Wonderful World (James Morrison)
-Schoolin' Life (Beyonce)

Much love.

index cards galore!

What I'm creating: Here are all my ICADs from over my trip!  The first few days I did not make one, but by day three I was back in the swing of things.  It is nice and strange being home now.  Today I've finally caught up on laundry...almost. :)

I had to use my limited resources while on the road, so the top index card has an ice cream wrapper on it, and the bottom one has a quote from a speach about bears.

The bottom index card has stickers from fruit and a smoothie that we got at a deli in Montana.

The flag came from my moms hamburger in Idaho, and the tic-tac-toe game was from the same dinner.

And last, but certainly not least, the wonderbread packaging!  I have always loved the polka dots on it.

Much love.

Back to Blogging :)

What I'm doing: I made it back safely after living in a tiny rv with my family for the past week or so!  It was one of the most physically demanding vacations I have ever been on, but it was so worth it.  I saw waterfalls, canyons, stairs, barns, moose, fox, a black bear, and more stars than I have ever seen in my life!  Here are some of my favorite photos from the trip.

This bison came down the path and set right on the other side of the barrier from us!  We got to see so many wild animals from a much closer perspective than normal.

I loved the winding branches of these trees..  So simple and pretty.

We literally saw the waterfalls at the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone from eery possible angle, but it was amazing to see it every time.

We hiked down 328 stairs on Uncle Toms Trail to see this view.  The only bad part was having to walk back up all of those stairs.  Needless to say, we took lots of breaks on the way back up.

We saw so many hats fall onto the thermal areas around Yellowstone.  The ground is not strong enough for people to stand and get their hats.

I loved the heart shaped pools, and the colors were spectacular.

Good Old Faithful.

There was a window in the church we went in to that framed the Grand Teton Mountains.  Amazing view, and I loved how the cross was in front of His Creation.

This was on Mormon Row, a series of houses and barns where Mormons onced lived.

The view after a steep hike we took.

This is one of my favorite photos from the trip.  It is also from Mormon Row and has been featured on many postcards, which is understandable.  This was one of my favorite spots to take photos on the trip.  I wish we had more time so I could look at the other houses that were along the abandoned road.

Overall, it was an amazing trip, and it made me so thankful for flushing toilets, a real bed and a hot shower.  I will post my ICADs that I made on the trip tomorrow, and I'll show the scrapbook I have been working on from the trip!

Much love and glad to be back. :)
